VolkerGround Engineering at the M3 Junction 9 improvement scheme

VolkerGround Engineering is currently on-site delivering sheet pile retaining walls as part of the M3 Junction 9 improvement scheme.

On this second visit to site, the team are installing AZ40-700 piles up to 14.5m long using a TM22 leader rig. Careful consideration was required to select the appropriate plant for the length and section of pile given the proximity of the adjacent A34 and M3 live carriageways.

To support drivability and reduce noise impact, the team are pre-augering the ground, essential for both performance and community consideration.

Early engagement allowed us to assist with the temporary works plan, advising on plant reach and working room requirements. The sloped terrain called for a stepped and phased platform to enable successful completion of the work.

Works are on schedule, and once this phase is completed, our team and equipment will mobilise to the next section of the project. Follow us for more updates.
