VolkerGround Engineering at the Folkestone Warren Sea Defences
VolkerGround Engineering recently completed works at the Folkestone Warren Sea Defences, which safeguard the critical rail link between Folkestone and Dover, part of Network Rail’s Kent primary route. The defences protect steep chalk cliffs and a coastal landslip complex, primarily designed to prevent radial slippage, with wave overtopping protection as a secondary function.
Our team installed sheet piles in Bays 14 and 22, fitted a row of threaded bolt studs inside the sheet pile wall, and completed connection details between existing and new walls to support concreting works by VolkerStevin.
Despite challenging weather and tidal conditions, all piles were successfully installed using a 23t zero-swing excavator equipped with a Movax attachment.
