The mission of the TRU East Alliance is to transform the East of Leeds route allowing people to travel faster, more reliably and in greater comfort between the North’s great cities. Providing passengers with more choice, more seats and better facilities on a safer, cleaner, more environmentally friendly railway.
The TRU East project is broken down into multiple overlapping projects. Project E1 which is currently in build and planned to complete in December 2024. With the remaining projects E2,3,4 and Shipley planned to complete in 2028. The project works include full new electrification between Leeds and York and include significant and complex renewals works at Neville Hill and Church Fenton. The works also include a new depot at Shipley, and line speed enhancement and Journey time improvement works along the route between Leeds and York.
We are looking to recruit an Isolations Planner to join our Major Projects team, working as part of the high-profile TRU East Alliance project based at Joseph Lynn Hub, Gascoigne Wood (LS25 6JE) and Cross Green, Leeds with travel between Leeds, York, and Shipley.
The role is responsible for producing fully resourced isolation plans for the TRU East of Leeds programme of works. There are varied sites and project packages to support, and the role will be responsible for isolation management for all sites within the project.
Other key duties will include:
- Ensure that appropriate alliancing behaviours and ‘best for project’ principles are always adopted, leading by example in the pursuit of successful delivery of the Programme to the benefit of all Alliance Partners
- Continually look for the most efficient isolation opportunities, working closely with the Project Management Team to ensure isolations are planned within the NWR timescales
- Identify isolation availability through Possession Planning System (PPS) for all project plans, where possible, to aid in the scheduling and delivery of schemes
- Compile ERAF form for RISK within project for all Isolations
- Attend internal access planning reviews on a weekly basis with site project teams
- Identify resource requirements to take the isolation to the Alliance Resource Manager
- Advise the Senior Possession Planner of the correct isolation including DEP Points required for the Weekly Operating Notice
- Submit EIDFs Plan to the NWR isolation Planner and ECO in line with NWR Planning Timescales
- Attend relevant de-confliction/integration meetings alongside the de-confliction manager
- Review all Isolation documentation issued from the routes/Engineering Access Planning (EAP) and identify any changes or errors that would affect the safety of possessions and isolations
- Liaise with Network Rail Operations and project teams to ensure collaborative working relationships are maintained
- Attend NWR PICOP Meeting and Project Whiteboard Meeting
- Attend relevant QSRA meetings alongside project teams
- Where possible, carry out site visits for route familiarisation and to ascertain the site conditions
About you
You will be self-motivated with a pro-active approach and have experience of working under pressure and meeting tight deadlines. Problem solving, communication and good interpersonal skills are a key requirement for this role
- The candidate will also ideally have the following skills and experience:
- Demonstrable experience working within isolation planning and using possession planning systems.
- Experienced Nominated Person (Essential)
- Competent in SIA25 ( Essential)
- Valid PTS (Essential)
- High level numeracy and IT skills, with proven ability to expertly use a range of relevant software, in particular MS Excel, Word & PowerPoint
- Excellent communication skills and ability to form positive internal and external relationships.
