VolkerGround Engineering at Rother Tidal Walls East
VolkerGround Engineering has recently completed sheet piling works at Monk Bretton as part of the wider Rother Tidal Walls East project.
Working along 50 linear metres of river embankment, our team installed 12m-long AZ26-700 sheet piles using conventional piling methods across four piling gate setups.
Works commenced in May 2026, using an LR1500 lattice crawler crane and a suspended 60HV vibratory hammer to install the piles to refusal. The piles were then impact driven to final level using a CX60 hammer.
Alternative installation methods were considered during the planning phase. However, the distance between the pile line and the proposed piling platform made long-reach solutions impractical. Our chosen methodology enabled the works to be delivered safely and efficiently while minimising disruption to members of the public and road users using Monk Bretton Bridge.
Throughout the project, our team worked closely with our client, VolkerStevin, ensuring a collaborative approach that contributed to the safe and successful delivery of the works.
