VolkerGround Engineering make progress at Old Oak Common
VolkerGround Engineering has recently delivered a series of carefully planned possession works to support the construction of the Old Oak Common Central Line Bridge, a location with interfaces across both London Underground and Network Rail assets.
With such a complex environment, the team invested significant effort into sensitive timing and sequencing, ensuring every activity aligned seamlessly with operational requirements.
The latest phase is now complete, involving the installation of 15 no. GU33N sheet piles, ranging from 6–10m, driven into London Clay using the Giken F301 Silent Press.
This methodology enabled silent, vibration‑free installation, carried out during night shifts and in close proximity to residents and critical infrastructure. A great example of how the right technology can minimise disruption while maintaining productivity and safety.
