VolkerGround Engineering Delivering Flood Defence at Littleborough with the Giken Supercrush

Last week, our VolkerGround Engineering team mobilised to Littleborough Phase 1B with the Giken F301 Supercrush, to install 282 permanent AZ26‑700 sheet piles,11m and 12m in length, to form a critical new flood defence wall. The programme is expected to run for approximately 15 weeks.

To facilitate safe and efficient installation, we’re also driving: 14no 11m dummy piles and 28no 6m AZ18‑700 sheet piles These will create a temporary retaining wall to support our crane platform.

Our Giken Supercrush will initially be paired with a 100T telescopic crawler, before stepping up to a 220T telescopic crawler as the works progress.

Due to the sites tight working room, vibration restrictions, and close proximity to Network Rail assets —the Giken Supercrush is the ideal low‑vibration, high‑precision solution.

If your project faces challenges around restricted access, working platforms, vibration limits, or hard ground, our Giken Supercrush capability could be exactly what you need.
