VolkerGround Engineering complete latest phase at M3 Junction 9
The latest phase of VolkerGround Engineering’s works at the M3 Junction 9 improvement scheme is now complete, involving the installation of 29 no. sheet piles as temporary works for the new gyratory.
With the works positioned immediately beside live roads, all activities were delivered during night shifts to maintain safety and minimise disruption.
The ground conditions certainly kept the team busy, strong chalks and flints demanded the full capability of our 38t excavator, supported by a combination of specialist equipment:
- Dangle drill for pre‑augering
- SG75v Movax for pile installation
- DH25 impact hammer to drive each pile to level
This phase marks just the beginning, with over 500 tonnes of piling still to be installed over the next 12 months to support the wider scheme.
