Keel Crossing celebrates Active Travel Project of the Year win at the NCE Bridges Awards 2026
VolkerStevin is celebrating another award success, with Keel Crossing taking home Active Travel Project of the Year at the NCE Bridges Awards 2026.
The award recognises projects that are making a significant contribution to sustainable transport, and highlights Keel Crossing's role in improving connections for pedestrians and cyclists across Sunderland.
Since opening, the crossing has become an important part of the city's active travel network, supporting wider regeneration ambitions and making it easier for communities to travel between key areas of Sunderland.
The latest accolade continues a remarkable run of industry recognition for the project, following wins at the Construction News Awards, Constructing Excellence North East Awards and the ICE Robert Stephenson Awards.
The achievement reflects the hard work, innovation and commitment of the entire project team and the strong collaboration between VolkerStevin, Sunderland City Council and project partners throughout delivery.
We're incredibly proud to see Keel Crossing recognised once again and thank everyone who contributed to the success of this award-winning project.
