Senior General Foreman
VolkerStevin, a leading civil engineering business within the VolkerWessels UK group, is looking to appoint a Senior General Foreman to join our team on a long-term framework based in Plymouth

As a Senior General Foreman, you will take responsibility for the safe and efficient delivery of works on site, leading teams, coordinating subcontractors, and ensuring projects are delivered to the highest standards of quality, safety, and performance

Key Accountabilities:
The Senior General Foreman is required to work as part of a multi-disciplinary design and delivery team, accountable for ensuring compliance at site level with Volker Stevin Health Safety Environmental and Quality Systems and Procedures. Behavioural Safety should be at the heart of what we do and this supervisory role should support and promote the culture across the team.
- Ensure the necessary compliance with all processes and procedures and current legislation.
- Ensure that they are aware and take ownership of managing specific third-party interfaces in conjunction with the Customer and Third Party Team, providing support to the site team where required.
- Run the site in accordance to the site management plan.
- Responsible for supervising and co-ordinating teams of direct labour and specialist sub contractors and sub contract labour, meeting targets and deadlines the contract.
- Ensure safe working practices as outlined in the method statements and risk assessments. Assist in emergency situations as directed by site management
- Provide specific project information which complies with client and internal reporting requirements, or as directed by the Works/Project Manager. Eg. Plant, Labour, and Materials Reconciliation.
- Resource planning, compliance with short-medium-term programme and cost control
- Ensure they and other team members manage the work efficiently and effectively. Have a commercial awareness and contribute to providing information to project management and commercial teams to comply with NEC contract documentation, eg. contract programme, Early Warnings, Compensation Events.
The role encompasses both overseeing the self-delivery team and supply chain, along with interfacing with client representatives at the appropriate level.
The General Foreman should be aware of Key Performance Indicators and act on the information provided to continuously improve across all areas of the programme: Time, Cost, Quality, Wellbeing, H&S, Environment, Customer and Innovation.
