We're looking for a dynamic Hire Controller to help manage our central plant hire desk — ensuring seamless coordination of hired equipment across multiple business units. This is more than just placing orders; it’s about delivering smart solutions, building strong relationships, and keeping our sites running smoothly and safely.
Please note that this is a 6-Month Fixed Term Contract, onsite role working out of our Snow Hill office.
- Handle plant hire requests via email, phone, and our central portal.
- Recommend suitable assets for site needs, liaise with specialist suppliers, and arrange site visits.
- Ensure timely ordering and delivery of plant equipment from internal and external suppliers.
- Uphold health & safety standards and Volker HSEQ policies.
- Update Microsoft 4PS with accurate data to reduce invoice queries and improve reporting.
- Manage damage/loss, negotiate quotes, and group orders to cut transport costs.
- Respond to urgent requests, support site mobilisations and de-mobilisations, and resolve issues with speed and empathy.
About you
- Demonstrable experience as Hire Controller — or you’re ready to step up with solid plant/construction knowledge.
- You’re tech-savvy with Microsoft Office, Dynamics 4PS is highly preferred.
- You’re a people person — upbeat, approachable, and confident in customer-facing roles.
- You thrive under pressure, juggle tasks like a pro, and always find a way forward.
- You’re a natural problem solver who asks the right questions and delivers smart solutions.
