VolkerTelecoms is integral in the nationwide roll out of fibre networks for ultrafast broadband connections, providing a full turnkey solution from exchange to property boundaries, including all civils and fibre works.
The team is using a hybrid installation solution which includes building both new underground trench duct networks and overhead infrastructure, as well as using existing infrastructure. This combined installation will provide a faster and more efficient delivery, enabling most residents and businesses in the areas VolkerTelecoms operates in, to access the UK’s fastest broadband.
An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Design Manager - Telecoms to join our team working within our Telecoms department.
You will be responsible for the leading a team of Telecoms designers in the support of the many frameworks we hold. As a key member of the Telecoms Team you will ensure engineering excellence is achieved throughout the life cycle of our projects, through development, design and implementation phases through to handover to the client. You will also manage yourself and your team effectively to deliver against agreed plans and budgets whilst also supporting the learning and development of your team.
About you
With prior experience of acting as a Design Manager, CEM and/or CRE on large multi-disciplinary projects, it is highly desirable that you will have gained significant demonstrable experience working with Telecoms and other railway systems. You will possess a ‘can-do’ attitude, excellent organisational ability and have working knowledge of Railway interfaces and practices.
A degree in an appropriate Engineering subject is preferable with HNC/HND in relevant Engineering subject essential. Professional registration (or working towards) IEng or CEng or IRSE licence for Engineering Manager – Design is essential. Membership of the IRSE and/or the IET is preferred.
