
Metro and Rail Projects (MRP) has extensive experience of working on high profile projects for most of the UK’s light rail and tram operators and on the UK heavy rail network.
When laying track, its vitally important to ensure each section is meticulously welded together to strict parameters, depending on line speed, to create a strong and continuous section of track. VolkerRail undertakes aluminothermic welding, which involves the use of a molten metal alloy that reacts exothermically with rail to produce an extremely high temperature joint.
We have a great opportunity for a Welding Supervisor to join for the Metros and Rail Welding division working at Tonbridge covering the Southern Renewals Enterprise in the south of England.
You will be responsible for:
- Assisting with the direction of all aspects of weld production in line with client and VolkerRail standards, procedures, and instructions.
- Maintaining a program of regular on site checks to ensure compliance with appropriate welding standards and other activities.
- Maintaining inventory
- Assisting with methods of work and the production of construction budgets/pricing schedules, as well as other necessary reports.
- Leading in organising the requests for staff, materials and plant.
- On call in connection with the company or project requirements.
- Organising and maintaining a program of track and welding assessments.
- The health and safety of yourself and all personals under your control.
About you
- PTS, Track welding TW3/RT3, Weld Inspection, LPT/MPT Testing
- GRASP/WQTS Competencies
- Full UK Driving licence (LGV)
- Experience in track construction and or renewals
