We have a great opportunity for a Health and Safety Advisor to join the Metro and Rail Division initially based in Doncaster.
You will be responsible for:
- Responsible for monitoring the implementation of standards and procedures on a day to day basis to enable compliance with the VolkerRail Safety Management System as detailed in the company safety cases.
- This post is also required to assist with safety critical assessments of possession management staff on a required basis.
- Assist in maintaining local contract area emergency plans as directed by the Senior H&S Manager.
- Responsible for Accident and Incident Reporting and Investigation at local level ensuring information is provided in a timely manner to enable liaison with enforcing authorities and required client(s).
- Carry out site safety audits and inspections of VolkerRail activities ensuring items requiring attention are resolved with responsible managers and communicated to the Senior H&S Manager. Advice and assistance must be provided to line managers to ensure they work safety and are compliant with company standards and procedures.
- Assist in the communication of Safety and Standards issues throughout contract areas ensuring an improving Safety Culture is developed and maintained.
- Monitor compliance with Health and Safety legislation, including COSHH, PUWER and LOLER regulations.
- The discharge of these safety critical duties and responsibilities within this JD/SRS and any other safety critical competencies are mandatory upon the post holder.
- Liaison and communication with VolkerRail staff and contractors plus all relevant external contacts as required in order to discharge the duties and responsibilities of this JD/SRS.
- Responsible for operating within the practice and procedures of the integrated management system.
- Alerting Senior Management, QA Manager to any non-conformance or deficiency in quality, materials, services or workmanship.
- Identifies training needs, undertake the required in-house training / briefing and carry out assessment of personnel under their control.
About you
- NEBOSH Construction Certificate
- Experience in a similar role in the rail/construction industry
- PTS
- Internal auditor
- A Full UK Driving licence
- CSCS is desirable
