Our specialist teams continue to offer high quality track construction, maintenance and renewals to a wide range of clients including: Nottingham Express Transit, Manchester Metrolink, Sheffield Supertram, and London Tramlink as well as a number of Major Contractors on the heavy rail network.
We have a great opportunity for a Graduate Estimator to join the Metro and Rail division in Doncaster.
You will be responsible for:
- Assist with the preparation of cost estimates, tenders and proposals.
- Assist with compliance with pre-contract manual, inclusive of arranging bid kick off meetings, mid-tender review, risk reviews, technical reviews and settlement reviews.
- Review invitation to tender, project drawings, specifications, and other documentation to understand project scope and requirements.
- Liaise with internal departments, subcontractors, and suppliers to obtain accurate and competitive pricing.
- Conduct quantity take-offs and measure materials required from drawings and technical documents.
- Support in the identification and evaluation of risks, opportunities, and value engineering options.
- Maintain and update estimating databases and records.
- Participate in site visits and attend pre-tender and client meetings where appropriate.
- Work to best practise throughout estimating function based on established procedures.
About you
- A degree (2:2 or above) in Civil Engineering, Quantity surveying, Construction Management or related discipline.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills, proficient in MS Office, especially Excel
- Keen eye for detail and a methodical approach to problem solving.
- Familiarity with estimating software such as Candy or similar.
- Previous experience in a construction or infrastructure sector.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
