Quartzelec Manufacturing Facility

Rugby

Prologis UK Developments commissioned VolkerFitzpatrick to complete the design and build of a 6,447m² single storey, three bay, warehouse and production unit, in Rugby, which includes a 2,155m² internal mezzanine.

The buildings steel portal frame was designed and built to accommodate three travelling cranes each weighing up to 70 tonnes, which were installed during the construction phase, by re-sequencing our works to allow Quartzelec to begin manufacturing in line with their programme, along various deep service pits.

Machine bases and precisely cast rail systems were also installed to aid in the movement of heavy machinery throughout the facility. Sustainable features such as permeable paving, rainwater harvesting, solar hot water heating and sun pipes for day-lighting were all utilised.

Although a BREEAM rating of ‘Very Good' was specified in the contract, through the development of our design and close collaboration with all parties involved, a BREEAM rating of ‘Excellent' was achieved.

VolkerFitzpatrick completed the works on time including the completion of a turn-key office
