The awards celebrate the expertise, achievements and outstanding contributions that businesses and individuals have made in Hertfordshire. The event has now been running for eight years and this year saw the largest ever number of entrants, with 160 finalists across the 19 award categories.

The glamorous ceremony was hosted by the Hertfordshire Chamber of Commerce and took place in the beautiful St Albans Cathedral.
In addition to winning Business of the Year, VolkerWessels UK was also a finalist in the ‘Excellence in People Development’ category.

VolkerWessels UK, whose head office is based in Hoddesdon, Hertfordshire, is a proud supporter of the Hertfordshire Chamber of Commerce, and sponsored the Inspiring Hertfordshire ‘Workplace Wellbeing Award’, which was a new category for this year’s event.

Adrian Shah-Cundy, corporate responsibility director for VolkerWessels UK and one of the judges in the ‘Workplace Wellbeing’ category, said: “We were very proud to sponsor the Workplace Wellbeing award at this year’s Inspiring Hertfordshire Awards, which was particularly fitting, given our focus as a business on wellbeing. To win ‘Business of the Year’ was immensely rewarding, giving us recognition for all that our teams do to make VolkerWessels UK a successful business and a great place to work.”
