September was VolkerWessels UK’s annual, dedicated equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) month.
Aimed at focusing on the importance of inclusion within the business, EDI month saw a range of events and activities, all with an inclusion theme, and culminating in the celebration of the nationwide National Inclusion Week.
The key focus for EDI month was a digital conference held for the 70+ VolkerWessels UK EDI Champions, and the first in a series of Inclusive Leadership Roundtable discussions – again held digitally.The conference was a chance for the EDI champions to network, explore a range of EDI topics, and address the ongoing promotion of awareness across the business.The outputs from the event will help the champions support VolkerWessels UK’s ongoing EDI journey.
The Inclusive Leadership Roundtable discussion was open to everyone across the organisation, and saw CEO, Alan Robertson; CFO Naomi Connell; and Steve Cocliff, MD, VolkerRail take questions and discuss a range of topics around diversity and inclusion. The focus was on promoting inclusion as a key part of the VolkerWessels UK culture, and underlining the commitment of the leadership to creating a diverse and inclusive environment that supports all our people, our supply chain and partners, our clients and all of our stakeholders.
National Inclusion Week fell towards the end of VolkerWessels UK’s EDI month, and, supported by its EDI Champions, teams and individuals across the business took part in activities to support and celebrate of inclusion and the national campaign.
