VolkerStevin achieves award for Swindon & Lee Green project

Recent

The Green Organisation has awarded Swindon & Lee Green Reservoir Improvements, a VolkerStevin project, the bronze ‘Green Apple Award' for environmental best practice.

The Swindon & Lee Green project, which was completed for United Utilities in February this year, focused on improving the overflow and spillway facilities at both reservoirs to allow probable maximum flows to be safely routed through the reservoirs and passed the existing embankments.

To be awarded the Green Apple Award is a testament to the environmentally friendly improvements the project team undertook. Richard Birchall, VolkerStevin project manager commented: "It is a privilege to be awarded the bronze Green Apple Award for environmental best practice. Since the start of the project we needed to upgrade the reservoir overflow system whilst also preserving the natural ecology of the reservoirs. We feel this has been achieved on both counts and this award reinforces that success. I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone involved in the Swindon & Lee Green project for all their hard work."

The Green Apple Environmental Awards are an established environmental recognition scheme into its 18th year and recognises positive impacts construction companies such as VolkerStevin are doing.
