VolkerSmart Technologies is due to support the East London NHS Foundation Trust in reducing their carbon footprint, by providing staff with electric vehicle charging points at the John Howard Centre in Hackney.

Later this year, VolkerSmart Technologies will begin a project to create three designated staff parking bays for electric and hybrid vehicles. The business will provide the electricity supply for each of the 7.4 kilowatt sockets, two of which will be wall-mounted and one stand alone.

All three charging points will be non-metered, as part of a transport scheme to help encourage staff to choose more environmentally sustainable methods of travel. This in turn, will support the Trust’s goal of reducing their carbon footprint.

David Easton, business manager for VolkerSmart Technologies, said: “We are delighted to be working with the East London NHS Foundation Trust, to further develop their use of electric vehicle charging. By assisting in the specification for these charging points, we are able to help the Trust find the most efficient solution for their needs.”

Adam Toll, Energy Manager for East London NHS Foundation Trust, said: “We look forward to working closely with VolkerSmart Technologies to provide green forms of transport, in particular electric car charging points at suitable sites. As a Trust we are committed to giving our staff and visitors as much opportunity as possible to choose greener and more carbon neutral ways of getting to our sites.”

VolkerSmart Technologies is a registered OLEV (Office for Low Emission Vehicles) installer and can apply directly for grant funding, for both commercial and domestic charge points, on behalf of a client. As well as installation, the team can undertake electrical feasibility and design during a project.

VolkerSmart Technologies is a ‘Smart Cities’ initiative from integrated highways service provider, VolkerHighways.
