VolkerRail’s pre-contract director, David Moreland provided an insight into his career path as he helped launch a new programme that helps secondary school and college pupils make better choices about their future

The Careers and Enterprise Company aims to inspire young people and help them to prepare for and take control of their futures by increasing employer engagement with young people, enabling them to meet, speak to and understand employers of all sizes and understanding the career options available to them .

Fourteen schools across the area were represented by 45 students and 20 teachers at the event on Thursday 3 March.

Ian Greenaway, D2N2 LEP employability champion and board member for the East Midlands Chamber of Commerce, said: “The success of our D2N2 Employability Framework and the Enterprise Adviser Network relies on the support of both businesses and schools and their wanting to be involved.”

The Careers and Enterprise Company programme was launched in the East Midlands by a partnership of local councils and the Derby, Derbyshire, Nottingham and Nottinghamshire (D2N2) Local Enterprise Partnership.
