VolkerRail were amongst 372 exhibitors at the London venue. The stand stood at the front of the hall with the new branding clearly visible with our new name 6 metres in the air attached to our elevated platform. With the launch of the consolidated VolkerWessels UK Group, the stand graphics were designed to showcase the extensive range of capabilities detailing the breadth and depth of the Groups offering.

Other exhibits on the stand included the "Sky High MEWP", Harmelen level crossing, Tuned Noise Rail Damper and ALH pre-coated and VectorTM rail encapsulation samples. These are prime examples of VolkerRail's collaborative approach to introducing new technologies and innovations through the development of successful partnerships.

The exhibition was officially opened by Lord Andrew Adonis, Minister of State for Transport, with support from Tony Mercado, Head of DfT, Simon Kirby, Director of Infrastructure Investment NWR, Jeremy Candfield, Director General Railway Industry Association and Lord Tony Berkeley, Chairman of the Rail Freight Group.

The VolkerRail stand was selected to receive a VIP visit from the esteemed guests, where they were greeted by and escorted through the exhibition area by Gren Edwards, CEO VolkerRail Group, Toon van Kleef CEO VolkerRail International and George Thompson, VolkerRail Director of Business Development and Communications.

The VolkerRail team were also visited by Erik Aghten and Marc Van Damme from Sky High along with 15 delegates from Belgium Industry, organised via the Belgium Embassy in the UK. The group of visitors were extremely impressed with the MEWP exhibit and were interested to hear about the Group's wider activities and developments in the rail industry.

To celebrate the launch of the rebrand and the future of VolkerRail, an early evening soiree was held on the stand for invited guests; including key clients, partnering companies, colleagues from the VolkerWessels UK Group and media contacts.

Gren Edwards, CEO VolkerRail Group commented "Railtex 2009 was a fantastic platform to showcase the new brand and to further demonstrate the multidisciplinary capabilities not just within the VolkerRail Group, but the wider VolkerWessels UK Group. We are very proud to be part of the larger €5m VolkerWessels Group, where the continued collaborative approach further enhances and strengthens our offering to clients through an integrated and cost effective service."

A significant amount of business interest has been generated for the full range of products/services as a result of the exhibition; these will be followed up in the coming days and weeks. Overall Railtex 2009 proved to be a great success and has set the bar for future events to follow.
