VolkerFitzpatrick began work at SEGRO Park Tottenham in April, where the team is constructing eight industrial warehouse units, covering a total footprint of 190,000ft2.

The students arrived at the site in groups, each of which received a presentation from key members of the team, giving them an inside look at the project, as well as the variety of career paths available in the construction industry.

Following a short safety briefing and induction, the groups then headed out for a tour of parts of the site. Whilst on-site, the students were able to view live construction works taking place, as well as plant demonstrations. They also took the opportunity to ask questions and discuss the different roles required for a project such as this.

The day was a great success, with all visitors highly engaged and interested to learn more about both the SEGRO Park Tottenham project and the wider industry. Following the visit, 80% of attendees rated the experience as ‘Excellent’ and 85% said they would be more likely to consider a career in construction.

Jason Fairbrass, operations director for VolkerFitzpatrick, said: “The Open Doors event was a great team effort. The students were really engaged with the visit and it was wonderful to be able to talk to them about the industry and answer all their questions.”
