The CN Specialist Awards recognise the outstanding achievements of specialist contractors in the UK, with a panel of more than 60 judges deliberating over the nominations.

Innovation of the Year:

VolkerLaser has been shortlisted in the Innovation of the Year (Contractor) category for the access system, Fast Beam. Fast Beam is a revolutionary temporary works solution for bridge parapet repair and maintenance projects, brand new to the UK market. It is designed to maximise working space and minimise traffic disturbance, whilst undertaking necessary parapet repairs, maintenance or construction, replacing conventional scaffolding methods – reducing cost, time, manpower and risk.

Project of the Year by a Specialist Contractor (over £5m):

The concrete repair, refurbishment and waterproofing project on the M5 Oldbury Viaduct has been shortlisted in the Project of the Year category. The M5 Oldbury Viaduct is the largest ever concrete repair project carried out in the UK and saw VolkerLaser undertake a package of works on 3km of the carriageway between junctions 1 and 2 of the M5 for joint venture BMV.

Specialist Contractor of the Year (over £25m):

Finally, VolkerLaser has been shortlisted for Specialist Contractor of the Year (over £25m), a fitting recognition for the business which celebrated its 25th birthday earlier this year.

Following a presentation to the judges in February, the winners will be announced at the 16th annual CN Specialist Awards night, taking place at the Grosvenor House Hotel, London on Wednesday 25 March 2020.
