VolkerHighways is delighted to announce that three of their sites are being considered for the 2018 Considerate Constructors Scheme (CCS) National Site Awards. The awards recognise those sites that have made the greatest contribution towards improving the image of construction.
The business has received positive CCS scores throughout the year and has ended 2017 with an average score of 40.46, which is 4.27 above the industry average.
The VolkerHighways contracts eligible for CCS National Site Awards are:
London Borough of Camden
The team has been maintaining the majority of Camden’s streets since 2009 and is currently working on the council’s four-year public realm maintenance and improvement contract. The contract covers highways and lighting maintenance services across the borough until 2020.
London Boroughs of Havering, Barking and Dagenham
VolkerHighways’ contracts with the London Borough of Havering and London Borough of Barking and Dagenham are also being considered for an award.
The contracts began in April 2017 and include the maintenance of 21,118 illuminated street furniture/ street lighting units for London Borough of Havering and 18,500 units of illuminated street furniture for London Borough of Barking and Dagenham.
VolkerHighways and Medway have been collaborating on the council’s highway maintenance since 2007. The business’ previous contract with the council (which completed in July 2017) is eligible for a CCS National Site Award this year.
Their current contract, which began in August 2017, comprises both planned and responsive maintenance, including carriageway and footway resurfacing, winter maintenance, drainage cleansing and road markings. VolkerHighways is also working on Medway’s street lighting as well as capital schemes to improve and enhance the council’s existing network.
Jason Convey, senior HSEQS manager for VolkerHighways, said: “We are excited to have three sites in the running for this year’s awards. The CCS is an important part of our industry and being considered for these awards reflects the value we place on health and safety and community integration at each of our sites.”
