Recent

VBA’s Mytholmroyd Flood Alleviation Project has received a certificate of excellence award by the Considerate Constructors Scheme, who awarded the site full marks, plus an additional point for innovation. (46 out of 45).

The site received full marks (nine points) in each of the following five sections of the scheme’s Code of Consideration Practice:

  • Care about appearance
  • Respect the community
  • Protect the environment
  • Secure everyone’s safety
  • Value the workforce

The Environment Agency project, which will protect up to 400 homes and businesses from flooding, has maintained their exceptional score of 46 for two consecutive visits.

The project is expected to be completed by early 2020.

Commenting on the certificate of excellence, project manager, Chris Blenkarn, said: “A score of 46 is a fantastic achievement and is a real testament to the whole team at Mytholmroyd. Every person involved in this project goes above and beyond to ensure our site sets a positive example when it comes to considerate construction. It is a real pleasure to work on a project of such significance and we look forward raising the bar even further in the months to come.”

Mytholmroyd stood up well to recent flash floods in early August 2019. The emergency flood defences erected as a contingency plan were thankfully not needed. Well done, team!
