From 2015 until 2020 VolkerRail will be completing renewal projects as part of Network Rail’s Programme Framework.
This framework is an extensive programme to enhance and renew major assets within the London north western and east midlands routes. VolkerRail will be delivering multiple projects under the framework between Crewe and Gretna Green.
The largest project under the framework is the 650V signalling and power supply renewals scheme, which commenced in August 2010. This £10 million, two year project will see the team renew 123kn of signalling power equiments between Warrington and Burton and Holme.
The work delivered under this framework represents a significant portion of the £38bn Network Rail will invest over CP5 to maintain and improve Britain's railway, which currently sees four million passenger journeys and thousands of tonnes of freight transported every single day.
