A14 / A12 Copdock Interchange & A14 / A154 Dock Spur Roundabout
Felixstowe
The purpose of this project was to improve and upgrade the A12 / A14 Copdock Interchange grade separated roundabout and the A14 / A154 Dockspur large at grade roundabout to accommodate the additional traffic generated by an expansion to the Port of Felixstowe. These improvements were funded by Felixstowe Dock & Railway Company as one of the conditions for the planning consent of the Felixstowe South Reconfiguration scheme.
The works included an increase in the number of lanes on some of the approaches to the roundabout and on the roundabouts themselves, and installation of traffic signals. A pedestrian crossing with traffic signals was also installed on the western approach and exit to Dock Spur Roundabout. Ancillary works covered new safety barriers, road lighting and drainage.
VolkerFitzpatrick delivered the works under strict safety and traffic management arrangements, with narrowed lanes during the day and lane closured at night.
This contract was successfully completed and handed over 8 weeks ahead of programme.
