This is the largest project within the framework and will see 123km of signalling power equipment renewed between Warrington and Burton and Holme, on the West Coast Main Line; over the next two years.

Delivering the works from GRIP stage six to GRIP stage eight, VolkerRail will renew trackside cabling and new supply points, install 340 functional supply point cubicles, nine auxiliary supply points and 11 feeder protection panels; as well as undertaking all associated civil engineering works.

Peter Baverstock, VolkerRail programme manager said: “This project gives VolkerRail a great opportunity to showcase its electrification and signalling capabilities and build on its solid reputation of project delivery, whilst also helping to improve services for passengers.”

This framework is an extensive programme to enhance and renew major assets within the London north western and east midlands routes. VolkerRail will be delivering over 20 projects under the framework, between Crewe and Gretna Green over the next five years.
