The National Centre for Diversity’s ‘Top 100 Most Inclusive UK Workplaces Index’ and their ‘FREDIE Awards’ are a platform to highlight and celebrate the achievements of those organisations who have committed to building inclusive cultures.

VolkerWessels UK are proud to have risen ten places in the Index, from 15th in 2022 to 5th in 2023; our highest ever ranking, and have been awarded ‘Engineering Company of the Year’ for the 4th consecutive year.

Emma Ward, head of sustainability and inclusion, said “2023 has been a busy and enjoyable year. We have been working hard to deliver the commitments we make in our FIR strategy, with particular emphasis on empowering our 120 FIR Champions around the business, delivering awareness campaigns, and growing our network groups. This year we launched our RESPECT campaign – an operationally focussed programme with a simple message to respect our colleagues, even if they are different to you, which also saw us roll out a companywide toolbox talk on ‘banter’ and a FIR newsletter aimed at our projects and sites. We reaccredited to the NCFD Investors in Diversity in July 2023 and have commenced our journey to become Leaders in Diversity accredited by 2025. To see these efforts recognised with being placed 5th Most Inclusive Workplace in the 2023 index and being awarded Engineering Company of the Year tops off a fantastic year!’
