The award covers both LNE and LNW regions using a bespoke form of contract and covers the deployment of 9 Mainline Tampers and 2 Ballast Regulators.

The NTC contract also includes the deployment of the new Plasser and Theurer Euromat 08 04x4 which was introduced from our sister company VolkerRail International in September 2008. The Euromat is the first European Tamper which has been specifically designed to operate both within the UK and European gauge; this machine took less than 12 weeks to attain full VAB approval after arriving into the UK.

The Euromat compliments the already comprehensive VolkerRail Plant UK fleet, and is currently the most modern S&C Tamper working on the UK Infrastructure.

Network Rail's award demonstrates the positive perception of VolkerRail Plant's fleet as being a well managed, properly supported operations and equipment provider, which continues to evolve and improve through recognised professional processes and procedures.

Having the contract secured is very positive news for VolkerRail Plant, but focus remains on continuous improvement. The organisation will continue to maintain its drive for operational excellence providing and driving a safe, reliable, efficient, cost effective service thereby creating a solid foundation for further investment and future growth.
