Construction of both buildings began in September 2011. Piled foundations were required to make the building structurally sound along with a reinforced concrete frame from the ground floor up to the fourth floor and structural steelwork from the fourth floor to the roof, including the escape staircase structures.

The building's façade is made up of clear and fritted glazed curtain walling a glass which has had an enamel image glass fired into the surface for strength and raking front elevations which are aluminium fins sloping across the face of the structure.

The elevations are constructed with metal rainscreen panelling, which is an ‘outer skin' that forms a double wall. The outer layer keeps the rain out and the inner layer provides thermal insulation. The main ‘brise soleil', a solar shading system, is made up of anodised aluminium and acts as the building's visor, reducing glare and overheating by reflecting light.

The development was named Velocity Brooklands due to its location within the old Brooklands motor racing circuit, the Brooklands air museum and air field and the famous Mercedes World Museum, incorporating the theme of speed and movement.

The buildings external landscaping and lighting were designed to consider the distinctiveness of the site as well as the historic route of the ‘Solomon Straight', the final stretch of the Brooklands motor racing circuit and the views towards the race track.
