The company is already working on the Loch Buidhe substation and will now also be working on a similar job at the Fyrish substation build, in the highlands of Scotland.

Peter Cooke, technical development director for VolkerInfra, said: “We are delighted to be working with Siemens Energy once again. We will be working closely with their team to create a professional and enjoyable working environment to deliver the project to the highest standards, safely and on time.”

VolkerInfra will be responsible for the in-house design, procurement, logistics, installation, jointing and testing for a total of two 132kV circuits. More than 1,700m of cable and 12 of cable terminations will be used for the project.

Design works are currently taking place and site works are due to start in May next year with a completion date of August 2016.

The new Fyrish substation is owned by SHETL (Scottish Hydro Electric Transmission Limited), an SSE subsidiary.
