A library building in Stratford, built by VolkerFitzpatrick for the University of East London (UEL) has won the CIBSE ‘New Build Project of the Year’ 2015 (up to £10m) Award.
The CIBSE (The Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers) Building Performance Awards recognise the people, products and projects that demonstrate engineering excellence in the built environment.
The objective of the building was to create an eco-friendly and energy efficient space for students to work and study.
The new library has been operational since July 2013 and is achieving all energy saving targets set by UEL and exceeding the London Plan’s target of a 20% reduction in CO2 emissions.
The award will be presented at a prestigious ceremony at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London on 24 February 2016.
