Annual colour run raises £18,000 for Isabel Hospice

Recent

The day started off brightly with the weather and ended even brighter after the ‘2016 Colour Me Happy run’. The annual event took place on Sunday 24 July at Cheshunt Park in aid of the Isabel Hospice.

The event was for all ages with a great turn out from families and friends running together. The ‘rules’ were very basic – the runners had to start off wearing white and then at each kilometre a variety of coloured powder paint was thrown over them so that when they crossed the finish line they were multi-coloured.

This is the third year that Isabel Hospice have organised the event and it saw a record number of runners with over 1,000 people turning up to take part and many more spectators. With sponsorship funds still coming in the current total raised is over £18,000.

In addition to sponsoring the event and manning the last paint station, VolkerWessels UK employees took part in the run.

Adrian Shah-Cundy, corporate responsibility director at VolkerWessels UK said: “VolkerWessels UK were proud to sponsor the event and honoured to be able to take part on the day. I only hope the runners had as much fun being showered with paint dust at the finish line as we did throwing it! I realised afterwards however, I was perhaps covered in more paint dust than many of the runners! Well done to Isabel Hospice for organising such a special event and it was great to see so many people take part on the day to support a very important cause. Hopefully next year the aim could be for 1500 runners.”
