The rebranding of our UK companies is much more than a name and design change; it is the beginning of a new era. The coming together of all our businesses under the VolkerWessels UK brand is designed to support our growth agenda; to give our clients the assurance of each company having access to greater international and national group expertise in every sphere - financial, technical, managerial and operational.
Our Dutch-based parent operation VolkerWessels is a major European construction group, with a turnover in excess of €5 billion. The UK is one of its most important markets and we intend to become one of the top ten in each of the construction, civil engineering and infrastructure sectors. We will do this by driving the standards and practices that have already made a number of our operations beacons of excellence.
Today, as part of VolkerWessels UK, all our companies already share the same philosophy and values. Today we celebrate the creation of VolkerWessels UK - a financially strong multi-disciplinary group with annual turnover of approximately £700 million, some 2,500 staff and a renowned construction and engineering skill set. We will attract and retain best people in the industry. As one, we are ideally placed to take advantage of the significant opportunities in the broader construction and infrastructure markets in which we operate.
Visiting our different operations around the country, I am impressed by the passion and energy of our people and the excitement of being part of something special. This year we become a more significant force within the industry. This year we all become VolkerWessels.
